Yes! We are always looking for volunteers who would like to take part in the festival by volunteering.

The idea to create the Radiate Windrush Festival was formed in 2017. The goal was to produce a black owned and run festival, which would reflect intersectionality of subcultural groups across the Caribbean and Africa, whilst highlighting the obvious merge with British culture itself. It also aimed to highlight the often overshadowed Creole elements in the Black Community.

Founded by a grass-roots entrepreneur & her small group of friends, the vision was set in motion to deliver London’s first temporary city dedicated to carnival culture. It was important to present a festival which used Carnival as a core narrative to express the relevance of black history in Britain

“We wanted to help shape the ongoing generational legacy of the UK’s Black Communities & create something to be enjoyable for a range of people across all the community, delivered from the black perspective. For many decades, multiculturalism & popular culture has leveraged itself on various aspects of carnival without necessarily attributing it back to the communities & cultures it was taken from, or allowing them to equitably celebrate as freely in our social & open spaces.”

Carnival City is not a grant funded or sponsored event.
